Half a century later & I'm still feelin' this groove. ...but them HORNS though! I'm really feeling that 1:00 & the guitar riffs at 1:50 for more than a minute or minute fifty seconds though, how about you?
Thanks Madlib
me during shower: "OPEN YOUR MIIIIND"
I REAMBER WHEN WE USE TO SKATE BACKWARDS TO THIS SONG!!!
Does anyone know where I can find an extended version of the intro? I heard it on a radio show. They always played it right before the host joined the show and it was so catchy because it was more upbeat. I don't know if they edited it or sampled it but it sounded so cool.
Well, besides this version which is from their "LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING" album, theres an Instrumental Version of this song, played by Kool and the Gang which came out about the same time as this did, if I remember correctly. Possibly earlier. The Instrumental version was used in the first "ROCKY" movie for only about 1 minute as background music. I'm guessing that's what you probably were hearing, as the Instrumental Version was a studio version also. Other than this version you're hearing which is recorded live of course, the instrumental version of course is not live as I said before. The only other versions that I know of are recorded live at Jazz Festivals around the world but I'm pretty certain what you're looking for definitely isn't from any of those. PS - It's worth noting that the Instrumental version (The beginning anyway), sounds just like the beginning of this song. So I'd try looking up the Instrumental version. I'd bet money that's what you're looking for. I dont know how long the one on that show is, but if really long then its probably looped at some point. I hope that at least gives you a starting point.
@@Scott-G11 The version I heard is definitely a custom loop that the production department of this particular radio show must have created. It has that James Bond-esque movie opening vibe with the high pitch vocals followed by the horn section, but with a marching band style rhythm that you don't hear in this clip. It's so bad-ass....sounds like someone making a grand entrance. It never transitions to the Summer Madness groove with the Fender Rhodes Mark I electric piano part, though.
@@alphacentauri8083 - Are you certain that Kool and the Gang actually plays the tune ? Or do you think it could be a studio band remake ? If you know how to send links through the comment/reply section, it would be great if you had even a bit of it. I'm definitely not young and have heard just about every version of everything. LOL. (I'm getting some vibes that 1, K & the gang have nothing to do with the music youre describing
@@alphacentauri8083 - I'm pretty sure I understand now after reading your last reply. Anyway, two things. 1st) I very much doubt Kool and the Gang even knows about that particular soundtrack you're talking about, let alone record any of it. 2nd) If you Google the name of the radio show, you'll probably get some information about what, where, when and how on the station. Once you have that information, try asking Google who does the opening theme song for your radio show. (I'd type it in rather than use the microphone. Google would probably send you pretty far away from the truth. But, you should at least have some sort of contact information so you can call the radio station or show itself, and ask the same original question. Good luck. I'm sure you'll find it easier than you might think.
this sound is no1 in the world

Great solos!
WOW!!!! This sounds AWESOME?this sounds better than the original version🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥💖💖💖💖💖 I play this Everyday this is my music Athem sounds Amazing!!!they hit this out the Ballpark.
You're definitely right about that, in fact Kool & the Gang was only formed a few years earlier if memory serves. Easily fact checkable.
My wife took me to see Pete Jolly for my surprise 55th Birthday party at a night club. Pete really knocked us out we were about 8 ft. from him on the stage. I asked him to play "Sweet September" for me which he delighted in doing. What was a CLASS ACT and...a serious CAT!!!
My first Jazz LP, purchased when I was in high school in Sydney Australia. Loved and well remembered.
Daaaaamm! Eureka blessed Us with an Infinite Classic Album and Track💯 #BobbyHutcherson👑
Uplifting, beautiful tone and love the synth voices and piano Comping. Everybody's cookin'.❤❤❤❤❤

THIS VERSION of this song WILL NEVER grow old with me ❤❤❤
Summer Madness will never get old as long as I'm around.
🎶☝🏾❤️✌🏾😉
근황이 궁금하네
Aside from the obviously sweet sweet playing; the producers/engineers capturing these drum sounds back in the day were absolute wizards. Insane.
This version is so hypnotic!
1:18 the fourth part of a sample was used in Eric B. & Rakim's "Don't Sweat The Technique".
My son born 2002 had this on his playlist while he was in high school to wake him up in the mornings before attending school..He’s now a Senior in college graduating this semester 2024. And yes he’s a jazz drummer and r and b drummer
Hes bay
A must have on your jazz playlist ❤
great classic album by Bartz. incredible sidemen:Howard King!😮
Samba Jazz puro.
I LOVE THIS VERSION
Let's all say it together - there is something we can all agree on... EPIC.
The most soulful song ever released. I’ve seen Kool and The Gang in concert a couple of times and sadly too many of the band members have passed
Thought you were gonna do the line from don’t sweat the technique. sampled from the break down of give it up by kool and the gang actually
55 years on and it's still my #1 jazz album. Corea gets this shimmering, non-percussive, harp-like sound - try imitating it! The real percussionist is Land; Chambers notices and off they go . . .
my all time favorite bobby album
Best band
McCoy - such a powerful pianist. I heard him once. It sounded like he had 20 fingers. A massive waterfall of music from the mountains of McCoy.
If God played soprano sax- he would sound like this. God Bless you, John.
Don’t forget Wild and Peaceful❤
Panie Zbyszku co jakiś czas pojawiasz się w moim życiu tak uroczo - odpoczywaj w pokoju...

Isso que é música de verdade!!! Muito agradável!
I think this was the very first LP and maybe first hit from Kool going back to the late 1960/ early 70s anyway I enjoy this hit from the start and I always will until I go six feet under the ground. Lol
Still love Bob James Music 🎵 So many great musicians have played with Bob over the years. Love them all..🥳
👊🏿👊🏿
RIP George "Funky" Brown
I remember hearing this version on the radio I love this version of this song ❤
